Iagor Kazalikashvili Mountaineering Museum

The Igor Kazalikashvili Mountaineering Museum is an important cultural place located in the Kazbegi municipality, the city of Stepantsminda, at st. Vazha Pshavela, 54. This museum was founded in 1938 and is a private memorial institution. The museum's collection includes valuable memorial items that belonged to the famous mountaineer Yagor Kazalikashvili. The museum is organized in three halls: the first hall is dedicated to memorial exhibits of the climber himself, the second presents photographs reflecting the history of mountaineering in Georgia, and the third hall demonstrates the development of mountaineering in the gorge in photographs. Open to visitors every day from 10:00 to 18:00, except Mondays. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (with presentation of a card and ID), as well as for people with disabilities with appropriate ID, and refugees. A visit to the museum provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of mountaineering in Georgia through a collection rich in memorabilia and photographs.
