In the depths of Georgian nature, on the Algeti River, lies the mysterious Algeti Reservoir. Here, among the picturesque expanses of the Tetri Tskaro municipality in the Kvemo Kartli region, next to the cozy village of Tbisi, 55 km from the capital Tbilisi, there are expanses of water that carry many secrets and historical mysteries.
The heart of this location is the Algeti River, which generously supplies the reservoir with water. Here, in the plans of the builders, they dream of building the Algeti hydroelectric power station, capable of generating energy with a capacity of 1.1 MW. But the water of this place brings with it not only the potential for energy production, but also favorable conditions for agriculture. Water from the reservoir is used to irrigate fields in the surrounding villages: Georgiashvili, Asureti, Borbalo, Koda, Marabda and others.
However, in addition to its practical significance, the Algeti Reservoir is hidden in historical secrets. In 2012, local residents made an unusual discovery - a human skull belonging to the ancient medieval period was found in the waters of the reservoir. Preliminary research by experts indicates that this skull belonged to a man under 40 years old, and its age is estimated at approximately the 5th-6th centuries AD. Archaeological excavations in the vicinity of the reservoir also confirm the presence of settlements in the Middle Ages, revealing another page in the rich history of this place.
The Algeti Reservoir is not only a technical structure, but also evidence of the long history of Georgia, promising numerous discoveries for both history buffs and admirers of picturesque landscapes.
