Dmanisi Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve (Georgian National Museum)

The Museum-reserve with a historical and architectural orientation in Dmanisi, founded at the end of the XX century, is the first museum-monument in Georgia, which was formed at the site of archaeological excavations.
Not only Georgian, but also foreign historical scientists took part in the research work, and currently scientific activities are funded by the state fund and foreign organizations. Visitors to the museum can see a medieval settlement with a preserved ancient fortress.
The central element of the exhibition are the remains of ancient hominids who came from Africa. Also, special attention should be paid to the geological layer, which is more than 1.7 million years old. The collection keeps models of Europeans, samples of material culture, exhibits of the Stone and Bronze Ages.
