  • Description

In the heart of the Kvemo Kartli region, between the majestic hills, at the foot of which the Algeti reservoir adorns the landscape, rises the ancient Church of the Virgin Mary. This architectural masterpiece, immortalized for centuries, originated in the 8th-9th centuries.

The church building, designed in a hall style, fits amazingly into the surrounding landscape. The structure rises from roughly hewn stones, each of which bears the mark of time and history. The architects of the past embodied their dreams and hopes in every stone.

On the outside of the church there are two small arched windows, one on the west side, the other on the east side. The entrance to this sacred temple of acquisition occurs only from one side - from the south. The façade of the church is decorated with graceful cornices that seem to tell their own stories.

Although time does not spare even such shrines as the Church of the Virgin Mary, it was restored and is now majestically crowned with a tiled roof. Its doors are open to everyone who seeks solace and inspiration in the arms of ancient walls.

To visit the Church of the Virgin Mary means to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of antiquity and peace, to enjoy the silence permeated with age-old wisdom. This place is worth visiting for everyone who strives for harmony with history and nature, and who wants to feel the magic of the past in the modern world.
