  • Description

The incredible Cyclopean fortress of Nardevani in the Kvemo Kartli region, Tsalka municipality, in the village of Nardevani, stands before us as a silent witness of centuries. This majestic cultural monument, imbued with history and national spirit, captures attention with its monumentality.

With its cyclopean walls, built without the use of a binder, the fortress looks as if it grew out of rock. Its shape, rectangular in plan, gives it impressive dimensions - 18 by 15 meters. The height of the walls, reaching 4.5-5 meters, and the width of 3-4 meters create the impression of inaccessibility and strength.

Particularly impressive are the corners and walls of the fortress, thickened in the middle, taking on the shape of towers, which gives it its characteristic grandeur. In the very southwestern corner, as if inviting us into its grandeur, there is a pillar with an entrance in the form of a mysterious niche filled with stones that seem to melt into an unknown secret.

Protected by a sheer cliff on the western side, the fortress appears to us as a protective bastion, surrounded by fenced courtyards and fortified spaces. The ruins of the settlement, located to the east and south of the fortress, add an atmosphere of mystery and grandeur to this historical place.

The Cyclopean fortress of Nardevani offers a unique immersion into the history of Georgia, inviting visitors to reveal the secrets of its walls and feel the breath of centuries. Majestic architecture, subtle mystery and an atmosphere of impenetrable power make this place a must-see. For those who appreciate a unique combination of history and architectural splendor, the Cyclopean Fortress of Nardevani will be a fascinating guide to Georgia's past.

I recently visited an ancient fortress in Georgia and it was amazing! Massive stone walls and majestic towers make you feel like you are part of history. A walk through this place is like traveling back in time, where every corner keeps its secrets. Definitely worth seeing!
