[Temporaly closed] Shalikashvili Museum of Georgian Military History

The Museum of Military History of Georgia in Gurjaani is named in honor of US Army General John Shalikashvili, who became known to the people thanks to his successful service and outstanding achievements in his favorite business. The museum is located in the family princely estate, built in 1830. The grand opening of the exhibition took place in 2001, the brothers Otar and John Shalikashvili attended the festive event.
The museum is a small house with four rooms, one of which is entirely dedicated to the general. There you can see his portraits, awards, uniform, personal belongings and notes, documentary materials and photographs. Other expositions present the Georgian military chronicle of events: strategic maps, soldiers' equipment, the history of wars.
On the territory of the museum there is also a small garden, a terrace, a banquet table and an old wine storage in the basement.
