Family winery Mshvenieradze in the village of Tskhentarou
- Description
Mshvenieradze Winery is a family winery in the village of Tskhentaro, Imereti region, just 25 km from Kutaisi. Here, the ancient tradition of Imeretian winemaking is carefully preserved: wine is born in "churi" - as qvevri is called in Imereti - and is aged in the open air in the wine yard "churistavi".
The vineyard occupies about 2 hectares, part of it is over 80 years old. Among the white varieties are Tsitsa, Tsolikouri and Krakhuna, among the red ones - Dzelshavi, Otskhanuri Sapere, Mgaloblishvili. All work is done manually, without chemicals and with respect for the ecosystem. The wine is fermented with wild yeast, aged with chacha according to Imeretian traditions and partly in oak.
Guests are invited not only to the tasting, but also to participate in the process: from harvesting to bottling. Here you can try wine straight from the barrel, learn old toasts, bake bread and find out how a real wine village lives.
