In the municipality of Chokhatauri, in the village of Goraberedjouli, lies the Eristavi Gurian castle halls, rising on a high hill and personifying the greatness of the 17th-18th centuries. Built for military purposes, this castle belonged to the powerful Eristavis and was surrounded by 4 walls, each which are an impressive height of 5 meters and a length of 25 meters. Inside the castle you can find loopholes, marani, as well as an agricultural building, adding additional flavor to the historical place.
As you look east of the castle, you will notice a small bell tower, which is currently in a dilapidated state, but still celebrates its history. And around the castle there is a magnificent dendrological forest park, in which various species of rare plants comfortably live. Here you can find a three-century oak tree, a pencil tree, a candy tree, a giant sequoia tree and much more, creating a unique atmosphere.
The Eristavi Gurian halls of the castle and its surrounding dendrological garden have great tourism potential, attracting connoisseurs of history and nature. Restoration work is currently underway, giving this amazing place new life.
