The Ethnographic Museum in the village of Thilvana, located in the municipality of Khulo, is a picturesque corner that preserves the history and culture of Adjara. Founded in 2001, the museum boasts an impressive collection of 385 items, which includes archaeological finds, numismatics, Adjarian household and ethnographic objects, traditional clothing, accessories, weapons, and a geological collection.
A special feature of the museum are paintings by famous artists such as G. Artmeladze, D. Inaishvili, A. Rogolevich, as well as handicrafts by local craftsmen. In addition, the museum presents a variety of documentary materials and photographs depicting historical views of Batumi and Adjara in the 19th century, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of past eras.
The museum is open to visitors every day, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 18:00. Entrance to the museum is free, making it accessible to everyone. Free entry is provided to children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members, people with disabilities and refugees.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum offers periodic exhibitions of its archaeological collection and educational programs, such as “Knowing the history of our village” and “Open lessons in the museum”, which makes it not only a place for storing cultural treasures, but also a center for education and cultural exchange.
