The archaeological and architectural museum-reserve of the Petra Fortress, located in the village of Tsikhisdziri, Kobuleti municipality, is one of the most significant monuments of material culture on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. Founded in 1989, the museum-reserve covers the territory of the early medieval complex of Peter's Castle and its surroundings.
Peter's Castle is a unique archaeological site where excavations have revealed many archaeological sites dating from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age and until the end of the Middle Ages. These finds provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see evidence from different historical eras, revealing the centuries-old history of the region.
🔍 New exhibition in the museum
The museum-reserve has been replenished with a new exhibition hall, where a unique antique mosaic found during excavations on the territory of the fortress is now presented. Restoration work was completed quite recently - they were carried out by Georgian specialists together with an invited expert from Poland.
The museum-reserve is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. 📲 And from July 17, 2025, tickets for visiting the fortress and museum can be purchased online on the website tkt.ge. Entrance for children costs 2 lari, for adults - from 8 to 10 lari. You can also choose an audio guide for a self-guided tour.
Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members, people with disabilities and refugees.
This museum-reserve not only houses historical treasures, but also serves as a place of learning and inspiration, providing an opportunity to experience Georgia's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
