The Funicular Complex restaurant is one of the most famous places in Tbilisi, located on the top of Mount Mtatsminda. It attracts tourists with its historical status, panoramic views of the city and the opportunity to enjoy dinner in a picturesque place.

However, after the visit, we had mixed feelings. Expectations were high, but the reality was far from ideal. Yes, the place is atmospheric, but the restaurant itself leaves much to be desired - from the service to the quality of the food.

The main advantage of the restaurant is its location. Situated on the top of Mtatsminda, the establishment offers a magnificent view of Tbilisi. From the terrace, you can admire the sunset and city lights. Unfortunately, we were not able to dine on the terrace - it probably closes in the cold season.

✅ Comfortable furniture and pleasant interior

The interior of the restaurant is made in a classic style, the furniture is comfortable, the hall is quite spacious.

✅ Landmark Place

The restaurant has historical significance and has long been considered one of the best in the city. Perhaps this is what attracts tourists here.

What could be improved at the Funicular Complex?

⚠️ The food quality is below average.

A huge disappointment - fresh, tasteless food. The dishes absolutely do not justify their price tag or expectations from such a famous place. For example:

The famous donuts on the funicular, which are written about in the reviews, turned out to be ordinary and did not impress at all.

The Turkish sandwich, which should be juicy and aromatic, turned out to be a bun with an indistinct filling and an indistinct taste.

The rest of the dishes did not impress - everything is very mediocre.

⚠️ The service is slow and uninteresting.

The waiters serve as if they are sure that the guests will not return here, and do not try to make a good impression.

Slow work of the staff - you have to wait a long time for the waiter, even when the hall is not busy.

Lack of attentiveness - it seems that guests are being done a favor here.

I got the impression that the Funicular Complex lives on the reputation of the past, and not the quality of service. Guests here are not treated as desired customers, but as random tourists who have come for the first and last time.
