Old District: A Warm Home in the Heart of Kutaisi with Genuine Georgian Hospitality
Review of the Guesthouse Old District in Kutaisi
The guesthouse Old District, located in the heart of Kutaisi, pleasantly surprised us with its level of comfort and service. When we first booked the accommodation for just one night, we didn’t expect that we’d want to stay longer. But the friendly hostess and cozy rooms did their job: we extended our stay for two more days.
If you are looking for a peaceful place in the city center, where you can enjoy both silence and comfort, Old District is exactly what you need.
What We Liked About the Guesthouse Old District
✅ Central Location
It’s just a 10-minute walk to the center of Kutaisi, yet the noise of roads and the hustle of the city are barely noticeable. This is a convenient option for those who want to be close to all attractions but still value peace and quiet.
✅ Friendly and Responsive Hostess
She is available 24/7, always ready to offer advice and quickly resolves any issues that arise. Such hospitality immediately makes you feel at home, as if you’ve arrived at good friends' place.
✅ Comfortable Beds and Spacious Rooms
The house comfortably accommodated four families, a total of seven people, with plenty of space for everyone. The mattresses are large, not sagging, and the bedding is fresh and clean.
✅ Parking Availability and Quiet Surroundings
The house has its own parking area, where we easily left two cars, with additional space still available. The area is very quiet, giving the impression that you’re not in the city center, but rather in a cozy, peaceful neighborhood.
✅ Good Heating
The radiators are always on, even before check-in, making the house warm and comfortable right from the start. This is especially nice if you arrive during the cold season.
✅ Large Kitchen and Recreation Area
The kitchen is equipped with modern Italian appliances, and there’s everything you need to prepare meals. The property also has a spacious gazebo, swings, and a grill (although we didn’t get to use it, it’s nice to know it’s there).
✅ Cleanliness and Sufficient Number of Bathrooms
The house has several restrooms, showers, and even a bathtub, which is rare for Georgian homes. Despite the absence of chemical odors, everything looks very clean and well-maintained.
What Can Be Improved in the Guesthouse Old District?
⚠️ Informational Materials for Guests
It would be great to have a small brochure or folder with emergency contacts, a city map, public transport schedules, and recommendations for nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions.
⚠️ Small Interior Enhancements
It might be helpful to add more shelves for belongings or hooks for clothes in some rooms. Sometimes guests need space to unpack their luggage without cluttering the room.
⚠️ Signage and Navigation
Since the house is located in a quiet area, it can be difficult for tourists visiting Kutaisi for the first time to find the street. It would be helpful to have a more visible sign or a direct link to the exact location on the map when booking.
Recommendations for Visitors and Owners
For Visitors:
💡 Book in advance, especially during the tourist season. The guesthouse is quite popular.
💡 If you have a car, inform the host—there will definitely be a parking spot available.
💡 Don’t hesitate to reach out to the hostess—she’s always happy to help, suggest places to visit, and recommend the best spots to eat in the city.
For Owners:
⚙️ Create an information corner: a brief description of the neighborhood, house rules, a map of Kutaisi, and emergency contacts.
⚙️ Add small conveniences in the rooms: extra shelves, hangers, or hooks.
⚙️ Improve navigation: signs and detailed instructions for guests to make it easier to find the house.
Old District is an excellent choice for a large group or family that values peace, coziness, and proximity to the historical center of Kutaisi. The hostess will warmly welcome you and help with any questions, while the house’s amenities and cleanliness will pleasantly surprise even the most demanding travelers.
