The Svan complex of the Khergiani family is located in Mestia, the center of the Svaneti region. An underground tunnel 400 meters long leads from the Svan towers to the river, which was used by the men of the clan for secretive movement. In ancient times, towers served as protection from enemies and avalanches, which makes them not only a cultural, but also a strategically important element of the history of the region. An impressive panorama of Mestia opens from the roofs of the towers, allowing you to better understand the geographical and natural features of the area.

    Когда выбирала, куда сходить в Местии, обратила внимание прежде всего на сванские башни. Практически нигде больше я таких не встречала. Было любопытно узнать, как они использовались и сохранились ли внутренние помещения. Внутри оказалось еще интереснее, чем можно было предположить: узкие лестницы, маленькие окна и невероятное ощущение старины. Экскурсовод открыл множество деталей, которые я раньше не знала, например, секретные туннели. И даже панорама на Местию с крыши башни стоила того, чтобы подняться. Для меня это место стало одним из самых запоминающихся в Сванетии.

    Место само по себе интересное, и хозяин здесь очень доброжелательный. Но, к сожалению, экскурсий не предусмотрено.

    Комплекс семейства Хергиани находится в центре Местии, Сванетия. Найти его легко, благодаря двум сванским башням, которые видны издалека. Несмотря на возраст, строения отлично сохранились и являются хранителями истории этого региона. Экскурсия по комплексу была познавательной. Я узнал много нового о семье Хергиани из Верхней Сванетии и смог получить ответы на интересующие меня вопросы. Под сванскими башнями был подземный тоннель протяженностью 400 метров, ведущий к реке. О нем знали только мужчины рода, женщинам этот секрет не разглашали. В прошлом башни служили для обороны и защиты от лавин. Окна под крышей башни позволяли следить за врагами и обороняться. С вершины башни открывается великолепный вид на Местию. Рядом расположен старинный семейный храм с родовым кладбищем. Здесь действительно ощущается дух истории. Рекомендую посетить это место.
