  • Description

The cable car (lower station) in Borjomi is one of the iconic attractions of the city. Built in 1965, it connects the city park to the top of the mountain, stretching over a length of about 400 meters and overcoming a height difference of about 110-120 meters. A unique feature of this cable car is one large cabin in the shape and color of a Borjomi water bottle. Despite its Soviet origins, it is in good condition and maintained by local employees.

The lower cable car station is located next to the entrance to the city park, making it a convenient starting point for travelers. The top station is located at the top of the mountain, where tourists can visit a cafe, a Ferris wheel and a number of attractions such as go-karting.

However, the main attraction of this cable car lies in its panoramic views. Ascent or descent by cable car provides the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Borjomi and the surrounding area. It is worth noting that the best views can be seen from the cable car cabins, since there are no viewing platforms at the top of the mountain and the view is limited by dense vegetation.

The cost of the cable car ride is 15 GEL one way. This may seem high by the standards of the region, but it is possible to diversify the route by descending back on foot. The path from the upper station to the mineral springs is about three kilometers, which allows you to enjoy nature and fresh air.

In general, the cable car in Borjomi is an interesting and significant element of the city’s tourism infrastructure. It attracts both tourists and local residents with its historical significance and picturesque views.
