Unique sights of Georgia - Tsikhiskili fortress in Skhalta, Khulo
Tsikhiskel Fortress located in Hulo - if you have a question what to see in Georgia, it is worth visiting those places...
Tsikhiskeli fortress, located among the high mountains and wild forests, was built around the 11th-13th centuries. This dilapidated fortress is located in Adjara, Khulo Magistrate, Khikhadziri village, in the valley of the river Skhalta. If you look from a bird's eye view, you can see the labyrinth-shaped walls.
The walls themselves are made of hewn stone, among which there are red fired bricks. In the center of the building is a rectangular hall-type room. To the east of this room: an arch-shaped fortress with a projection to the east. The remains of the fortress are surrounded by the so-called "wall", or rather its ruins. All in all, the fortress offers a gorgeous view of the mountain and the forests, thus beckoning more and more visitors to it.
How to get to the fortress
Because of the impregnability of the mountain, not everyone dares to look at its majesty. But the brave ones are also advised to be careful: you can't do without physical preparation here. Since the fortress on the cliff is a real challenge. At 200 meters from the fortress, there is a road. From here you can only climb on foot. Keep in mind that the castle is not a tourist attraction! We recommend to visit it in late spring, summer and early autumn.
