Sagarejo: Davido Gareji Temple is a complex of cave monasteries in Georgia.
The complex of Georgian cave monasteries of the VI century is a real personification of antiquity, founded by the holy hermit David. The Gareji Desert is not considered a safe place for humans, the local fauna is teeming with vipers and rather large lizards. In Sagareggio itself, tourists can stroll through the local vineyards and see the rest of the sights.
The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Sagarejo, which is located in Kakheti, is the David-Gareja temple, which is a whole complex of cave monasteries.
Located 60 km from Tbilisi, the David Gareja Temple is divided into two parts, one of which is located on the territory of modern Azerbaijan, and is the cause of a territorial dispute. The complex has a length of about 25 km and includes 20 monasteries carved into the rocks.
It was founded in the 6th century by the monk David, who settled in Gareja, in a natural cave. The holy hermit ate roots and milk of wild deer. After some time, he had followers. It is worth noting that the Gareji desert is considered one of the most uncomfortable places to live.
The local fauna, if you believe the stories, may indeed be unsafe. At one time there was a serpentarium in the Gareji desert, which, for some reason, was dissolved. Reptiles are especially active in the last month of spring, in May. In addition to vipers, there are turtles, hoopoes and rather large lizards.
As for Sagareggio itself, about 12 thousand people live in it. There are many vineyards here - the climate and landscape disposes. But there are practically no wine production plants. In addition to the monumental cave complex of the David-Gareja cave monasteries, the temples of Manavi, Ninotsminde, Sabereebi and Hashmi are popular among tourists and travelers.

Мне очень интересно как это всё делалось и как там жили люди. Змей и ящериц там точно должно быть много, так как летом и весной они любят отдыхать на прогретых камнях и плитах.
