Martyrs Monastery is a small ancient church, which is part of the complex of Georgian cave monasteries David Gareji. The structure is located on the top of a mountain range to the west, 300 meters from the desert.
A brick gate (1664-1675) was built south of the entrance to the monastery by order of Prince Archil of Kakheti. The eastern part of the building's wall is small, square in shape, with a low ceiling, without an apse. Later in the center of the monastery an altar made of rough stone was built.
Behind the northern wall stretches another wall at about 130-140 cm, which is essentially a sarcophagus - there are relics of the monks of martyrs. The ceilings and walls of the structure are covered with a method of painting that is close to the sights of the 11th century.
In Georgia this sight is held in high esteem, and the pilgrimage to Gareji is equal to the pilgrimage to the Promised Land.
