One of the most beautiful places in Georgia is considered to be Chavchavadze Castle. After it was destroyed in the mid-19th century, it was reconstructed in 1886.
The Chavchavadze family estate, Tsinandali is a Georgian landmark that you need to see if you are interested in the history of the country.
Tsinandali Museum is a complex consisting of the house of the poet Alexander Chavchavadze, a picturesque garden and a cellar, which houses a unique wine of the 19th century. Tsinandali is located in the village of the same name in Kakheti.
During the time of Tsar Irakli II, the palace belonged to the Georgian ambassador Garsevan, later it was inherited by Garsevan Chavchavadze's son Alexander, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of Georgian literature of the Romantic era.
The palace itself was erected at the end of the 19th century (1886), later it was converted into the house-museum of the Chavchavadze family. It stores both personal belongings of the family itself, as well as rare manuscripts dating from the 18th and 9th centuries, musical instruments and works of fine art, examples of various dishes from different countries: Italian, Russian, German and French.
Tsinandali Garden is the first example of a European recreation area in Georgia. The park is huge! Here you can fully enjoy the beauty of broad-leaved trees and manicured lawns, many attribute Tsinandali garden squares to the most beautiful places in Georgia. Here you can find not only plants familiar to Georgian latitudes, but also quite exotic flowers and trees from different parts of the world.
The sights of Georgia are often accompanied by legends, this garden is no exception. According to legend, if a couple of lovers walk through the "valley of love", then their life together will always be full of happiness.
The wine cellar is also very interesting, it was here that Alexander Chavchavadze took the first step for the development of industrial winemaking in Georgia. He began to pour wine not into jugs, but into glass bottles of the European type. Today in the cellar you can see more than 15,000 copies of the rarest Georgian wine. Lovers and connoisseurs of good wines definitely have something to see in Georgia.
History
The Chavchavadze family moved to Kakheti in the second half of the 18th century, since then Tsinandali has become the family estate of the whole family.
In the 19th century, the main representatives of the Georgian high society gathered here. The palace became a place of attraction for cultural society, the most important issues of the country were solved here, because the palace became a meeting place not only for the nobility, but also for diplomats from other countries.
Unfortunately, in 1854 the castle was looted and destroyed by Shamil's army, and all the inhabitants were taken hostage. However, as a result of negotiations, everything was resolved successfully.
In the second half of the 19th century, the lands of the estate passed into the possession of the State Department, and reconstruction work began on the territory of the castle. It is thanks to the restorers that we can see the palace almost the same as it was 300 years ago!
