History
Often the most beautiful places in Georgia they have a fascinating history, and St. George's Church is no exception. According to legend, in the Middle Ages, around the 10th century, a man wanted a son so much that he personally erected a monastery in the name of St. George and tirelessly prayed to the saint for a son. The sufferer's wish was fulfilled. Hence came both the name of the mountain and the church – Uzo – translated from Georgian as "childless". And now the monastery has become a place of attraction for all people who want a child. When people came to the temple to pray, they left donations at the tree, which they called the cherished one.Sights of Georgia they become a magnet not only for tourists coming to admire, but also for local residents. During Bright Tuesday, the second day of the week following Easter, all residents of the surrounding area and local villages come to the foot of the church and ask the Saint to fulfill their desires. In addition to the miraculous temple, here you can enjoy peace and tranquility, on top of the mountains, near the clouds. All problems fade into the background or are forgotten altogether.
How to get there?
The church complex can be reached both by private and public transport. To get to Uzo by shuttle bus, you need to get in the car to Kojori, from there walk about one and a half kilometers to the temple itself.
