History.
The castle of Cldekari was built by a feudal lord of the Bagvashi family. It was from that moment that the eristaves of Cldekari felt so powerful that they put up resistance against the king. The struggle between the Eristaves and the king lasted for decades.
At this time the Byzantine emperor sent troops into Georgia. Liparit put up a strong resistance and eventually managed to repel the attacks of the enemy. And as a result, the feudal lord became very steadfast, occupied most of western Georgia, and began to raise the king himself. But this did not please the nobles, and they decided to arrange a conspiracy against him.
The leader of the conspirators seized the fortress, and Liparit and his family were captured. Liparit was then forced to become a monk. Later Liparit's son got his fortress back, but how, no one has been able to find out at this time. In the meantime Liparit was loyal to the ruler, but it did not last long. Soon the ruler banished Liparit to Greece.
Because of this, the fortress lost its power. At the beginning of the 12th century, the castle became a refuge for the rebels against the king. But this did not last long, and the king's troops seized the castle. The rebels were punished and their leader's eyes were burned out. In subsequent times the castle did not play a special political role, and therefore it is rarely mentioned in Georgian history.
