The unique and voluminous landmark of Batumi. The Batumi collonades are the calling card of the Adjarian capital.
Batumi Boulevard is one of the most popular places in the city. The entrance to it is decorated with an incredibly beautiful colonnade made in the Greek style. He looks really impressive. You can see the photo and a short description in the blog "MadLoba". There is also the location of the memo.
The entrance to Batumi Boulevard is decorated with a beautiful Colonnade. This peculiar gate in the Greek style has already become the hallmark of the capital of Adjara and a real attraction of Georgia.
The idea belongs to the Batumi doctor D. Mchedlidze. In 1932, he saw a similar colonnade in the city of Sorrento when he went to Italy for a medical conference. Returning home, the doctor turned to the city authorities with a proposal to decorate the Batumi embankment with columns. The project was prepared by architect B. Kirakosyan.
Majestic columns appeared in 1934, they decorated the exit to the sea. A lot has changed since then: the coastline has moved away, the boulevard has been reconstructed, it has become longer. And the colonnade stands still and pleases residents and guests of the city. Later, the entrance to the park "May 6" was decorated with the same columns. Photos of the Batumi Colonnade are found in guidebooks, postcards, magnets and other souvenirs, as the most beautiful places in Georgia.
The boulevard is very popular among residents and visitors of the city. Here people relax, walk, play sports, admire the picturesque vegetation, beautiful views of the sea and mountains. And what sunsets are here!
If you choose what to see in Georgia, the capital of Adjara with its sights must be on the travel itinerary.
