About Magalaant Tower
Attractions in Georgia often have a long history, but there are few places where monuments from different centuries are collected in one complex. An interesting feature of the Magalaant Tower is that all of the buildings it includes are architectural monuments from different periods. Here you can see both the construction of the early Middle Ages, touching the walls built 900 years ago, and the buildings erected relatively recently - in the XVIII century.
Architecture
Papua Magaladze tower dates from 1679, is a building of four floors, made with the use of brick and stone. Unfortunately, this monument has not been fully preserved to our time. Now the ceiling between the floors has been preserved only for the fourth floor, and the carved windows and doors have lost their original look. The last, fourth floor, has a brick vault, which rises and rests on arches. On the northeast side of the tower is a stone-carved entrance through which one can enter the building.
Inside, one finds loopholes and stone fireplaces. The façade of the building is decorated with a depiction of Saint George defeating a dragon, but this is not the only fresco found there.
How to get there?
To get to Magalaant Tower and Magalaant Church complex, you have to get to Tsinarehi village, which is located in Kaspi. From there you go on foot or by car on a dirt road for a distance of 2.5 km. Once you arrive, you will see the church complex of Magaalat, or rather, you will be greeted by the bell tower of the 18th century. After seeing the complex try to find a narrow path that leads to the top of the hill, where the Tower is located.
