History of construction

In honor of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the treatise on the patronage of Russia with the kingdom of Eastern Georgia, in the name of friendship between the peoples of these countries, an Arch was erected on the edge of the precipice of the Caucasus Mountains near Gudauri.

In 1983, famous Georgian architects and artists designed and decorated the inner surface of the Arch with frescoes and mosaics. Current state
