SAIRME RESORT
According to legend, the springs in Sairma were discovered by hunters who were chasing a wounded deer. In the place where deer often gathered, water flowed through the rust-red stones. All around, everything was whitened with salt.
About 5 km from this place, the shepherds found another strange place: here the grass was constantly green, the snow instantly melted, and after the rain the ground immediately dried up.
As it turned out later, the reason for all this was thermal nitrogen-methane, slightly sulfide mineral waters, which geologists discovered in 1920, and this place was called a desert.
The first information about the Sairm is found in the documents of the 90s of the XIX century. And the first attempts of scientific study of the sources of Sairme are connected with the name of the doctor Kelenjeradze. In 1912, as a student, he took water samples to St. Petersburg for research.
It turned out that these waters in their medicinal properties are not inferior to other, at that time known waters.
In the 30s of the twentieth century, Sairme officially received the status of a resort. Sanatoriums were built, resort infrastructure was created, and a highway was laid connecting the resort with Baghdadi.
In 1945, they began to pour Sairme mineral water according to the factory method.
