Driving on this road is only possible from June to October. Since avalanches often occur on the vertical slope of the ridge in winter.
On the southern slope of the Svaneti ridge, in the valley of the Tskhenistskali River, there is the climatic and balneological resort of Muashi, which is known for its mineral waters. "Ailama" was visited by professional alpinists, and "Zesho" by amateur climbers. Throughout the year, thousands of young people from all over the Soviet Union learned the basics of mountaineering here. Often there were not enough places in the cottages for all the guests and tents were pitched in the center of the camp.
