Natural attractions of Georgia. Zemo Ermani Boulder.
There are many places in Georgia where you can spot boulders, pillars, many of them brought by the glacier. Zemo Ermani boulder also appeared. The boulder was blown down from the mouth of a volcano and is dark red in color. To get to the boulder is not a problem, so everyone can come and see this unusual boulder.
In many places in Georgia, you can find huge round boulders, weighing more than a ton, which scientists call erratic (stray, moving) stones. Sometimes it is not clear where these giant formations came from in a clearly alien environment to them.
Geologists explain it simply: such processes took place on our planet at one time, which could move tens and sometimes hundreds of kilometers away. These processes are related to the ice age, and the force that was able to move the boulders was the glacier. One such boulder is located on the southern slope of the Dvaleti Caucasus Range, in the valley of the Ermanistskali River.
The size of the boulder, carried down by the glacier from the edges of the vent of the volcanic plateau through the Kharkhula Pass, is quite impressive - 9x6x4,5 m. The boulder consists of effusive rocks and is dark red in color.
Kharul Pass is separated from the Magran-Dvalet Main Caucasus Range. On its crest from north to east are the peaks: Keli (3,628 m), Knoli (3,284 m), Galavduri (3,230 m), Tsiteli Khati (3,026 m), Dzirisi (2,594 m), Tshratskaro (2,347 m), Mtatsminda (2,276 m) and Zabekuri (3,211 m). To the north of the ridge, at an altitude of 3000 m, there are traces of old icing. Most of the ridge of this ridge is in the alpine zone and is covered with meadow herbaceous plants.
