In the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of southern Georgia, the Tsalka municipality, in the valley of the Khrami River at 1506 m above sea level, there is one of the largest reservoirs in Georgia – the Tsalka reservoir. The sights of Georgia, such as this reservoir, are used to this day.
It is elongated from west to east. For the most part, the coasts are low and flat, only the southeastern section of the coast is steep and high. The water in the reservoir comes from the Khrami River and other small local rivers. Also, the water is replenished with underground, rain and snow water.
In order to generate energy, a concrete dam was erected in 1946 in a narrow and deep valley. The water level is regulated here depending on the season. In the period from December to the end of March, the reservoir water is covered with ice.
If you don't know what to see in Georgia, then go to the Tsalkin reservoir, which after visiting can become for you one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, struck by the power of the natural elements.
