History of the park
The history of the park dates back about 1 century and occupies as much as 100 acres of land. The park was built during the Soviet period in the 1930s, and it was one of the three popular parks of the USSR. In the early 2000s, Georgian millionaire Badri Patarkatsishvili came up with the idea to transform the park into a more modern and themed one. As a result, together with his wife, as part of a charity project, he was engaged in the improvement of the Mtatsminda park area.

There are 3 main zones in the park: family, children's and extreme. In the family area there are walking trails, cafes, restaurants, shopping stalls, recreation areas with gazebos, a wedding palace and a place for events. In the children's area there are playgrounds, attractions for kids of all ages. In the extreme zone there is a safe environment for sports and outdoor activities, as well as for thrill-seekers there is a roller coaster and a huge Ferris wheel.
The main feature of the park is the Tbilisi TV Tower and the panoramic view from the mountain. Tbilisi and the most beautiful places of Georgia can be viewed in the palm of your hand. And the most important attraction of Mttsaminda Mountain was a Giant wheel. The wheel in the park is the tallest object, its height is 65 m. The giant wheel makes one turn in 12 minutes.
How to get to Mtatsminda Park
The park and the city are connected by the Tbilisi–Okrokana highway. As well as the cable car with funiculars built in 1905, which is the historical pride of Tbilisi.
The distance from the city to Mtatsminda is about 8 km, by car the way can be overcome in 15 minutes, and by bus in 20. Buses run under the numbers 124 from Rustaveli Square and 90 from Orbeliani Square. The shortest way is the funicular. The Tbilisi funicular connects Chonkoridze Street and Mtatsminda Mountain Park. The length of the cable car is 501 m. The height of the uppermost station is 727 m, and the lowest is 460 m above sea level.
