The amazing natural sights in Georgia. The Kvakuntia stone.
If you want to find an interesting natural landmark that you haven't seen anywhere else, then you should definitely pay attention to the Hreitic stone Kvakuntia. The stone is a rocking boulder, when you press your finger on it - it comes into motion and makes a clattering sound. the weight of such a stone is up to eight tons!
Hreiti village, the highest village in terms of hypsometric position in Chiatura municipality. This village borders the Racha region. The lowest place in the village is the neighborhood of Lake Shemoreva, located in the south of the village (at 579 m above sea level) and the highest is the neighborhood of Mount Patara Satsaliki (1900 m above sea level), located in the extreme north.
On the territory of the village, 6 km from its center, there is an unusual natural monument - a rocking boulder, which locals call Kvakuntia. Its surface has been washed away by water. The boulder weighs about 7-8 tons and its dimensions are 1.5 x 2 x 1.3 m.
This natural monument is amazing because if you press one of the ribs of the stone with your finger, the boulder moves and makes a knocking sound.
The stone has four anchor points, one of which hangs in the air and that is what causes the movement. The unique properties of the stone are due to its composition (limestone) and the fact that it is located on a karst massif.
At 5 km from the balancing stone. On the southern slope of the Racha ridge, in the vicinity of Vaketke area, there is a multi-level cave complex Kariani Klde - Budzha. The cave begins with a vaulted, spacious entrance. The underground river Budzha flows through the caves, forming waterfalls, lakes, and karst wells along the way. At the end of the cave becomes impassable. The upper part of the cave is at a height of 1480 m, the lower part is entirely covered by the lake. The underground stream of the river Budzha pours out of the lower cave in the form of a waterfall.
It is about two hundred kilometers from Tbilisi to Khreiti.
