The most unusual places in Georgia. Blocks of Roska.
Unusual boulders are located in the valley of the village of Roshka. These blocks consist of igneous rock, and the glacier scattered many of these blocks in different parts of the valley. The landscapes here are all amazing, and the waters are crystal clear, so be sure to visit these places and enjoy the beauty of the natural areas of Georgia.
Khevsureti - the historical region of Georgia. In historical sources before the XV century Khevsureti It is mentioned under the name of Phovi (together with the border region of Pshavi). Datvis jvari Ridge divides Khevsureti It is divided into two parts - external (Pirikit) and internal (Piraketa) Khevsureti. A magnificent panorama opens from this ridge.
The village of Roshka is located in the historical region of Georgia - Khevsureti, in its outer part (Piriketi Khevsureti), at an altitude of 2,000 m above sea level, on the southeastern slope of the Chaukh massif of the Main (watershed) The Caucasian ridge, in the upper reaches of the Roshkistskali River (the right tributary of the Khevsurskaya Aragvi). In the Roshka Valley, traces of the action of the old glaciation are well preserved - blocks consisting of diabases (igneous rock) and lowered by the Abudelauri glacier from the Chaukh massif into Roshka. The glacier scattered a large number of these boulders, both in the upper part of the valley and in the lower part of Rashka - in the valley of the Khevsuret Aragvi River. Two of them are among the largest moving blocks in the world. Their dimensions are 19x5x7 and 22 x13 x 10 m.
At the foot of the Chaukha there are colorful picturesque lakes of glacial (moraine) origin: green, blue and white. Lake Mtsvane (green) is due to a large number of herbaceous plants. The maximum depth of this lake is 3.8 meters, the volume is 45,500 m3. 200 meters north of Lake Mtsvane, in the hollow located below, there is Lake Lurji (blue). In summer, streams do not flow into the lake. The water here is crystal clear and transparent, so it has a blue tint. To the northwest of Lake Tetri (white), which arose several decades ago on the site of the Abudelauri language. Into this lake from the glacier Abudelauri meltwater flows down, mixed with mud. Therefore, there is always muddy water in the lake. For a long time (about 6 months) the lake is covered with ice. The ice melts only in May.
Underground streams flow out of these lakes, which form the Abudelauri River (moreover, the Roshkistskali River).
There are many legends associated with these places. Locals enthusiastically tell incredible stories that take your breath away. Embark on a journey to the boulders of Roshka, and hear them firsthand.
