Travertines in Georgia. The best travertines. Bidar travertine.
Travertines are formed for a long time, so they are considered a real phenomenon. The most significant and most beautiful travertine is Bidar travertine. No wonder he was awarded the title of a natural monument. There are many monuments and waters around travertines, including mineral waters.
If you drive along the Gudauri-Kobi highway, it is difficult not to notice an unusually beautiful travertine slope. This natural monument always has a lot of tourists: it is considered one of the most visited tourist sites in Georgia. The flowing transparent water covers the white surface of the slope with a thin film and creates a magnificent travertine. Travertine "glades" seem to be covered with an embroidered canopy, a thin film of water on a white surface creates sparkling puddles. When walking on the travertine, the feet almost do not get wet, because the soles of the shoes rest against the teeth of the lime partitions.
In the valley of the Bidari River in several places there are accumulations of such calcareous travertines formed from the sediments of the stream. Among these clusters, one stands out – the most significant and most beautiful, located on the left bank of the river, not far from the automobile tunnel.
The formation of travertines on the surface of the earth requires a fairly long period, so travertines are considered a special natural phenomenon. Bidar travertine was given the status of a natural monument.
In the lower reaches of the Bidari valley there are famous sources of mineral water "Narzan". The Georgian Military Road passes near Bidar travertines, which begins in Tbilisi and ends in Vladikavkaz. The length of the road is 206 km .
The Gudauri Ski Resort is located on 120 km of the Georgian Military Road, on the slopes of the Kudebi (3006) and Sadzele (3007) mountains. It was built 30 years ago, but in such a short time it managed to gain great popularity among fans of skiing. Gudauri is an ideal place for fans of such extreme sports as Freerider and Heliski.

Не удивлена, что Бидарскому травертину в Грузии присвоено звание памятника природы. Думаю, на это стоит посмотреть вживую.
Подскажите, где ещё в мире можно наблюдать подобный феномен?
