The Rustavi Historical Museum was founded in 1950 by archaeologist Gogi Lomtatidze.

The museum was founded by Gogi Lomtatidze, a famous archaeologist and scientific researcher. In 1950 the building was equipped as a museum, and just three years later, in 1953, the museum opened its doors to visitors.

Objects from various eras have been found on the territory of the city of Rustavi, some even dating back to before our era. All materials found by archaeologists were placed in the Rustavi History Museum, and today there are over 28,000 exhibits. These are earthenware decorated with ornaments, glass made according to ancient secrets of Georgian craftsmen, military armor and swords made of bronze, also coins dated back to 12-13th centuries were found. Thanks to the work of historians and archaeologists today we have a complete picture of how people lived and conducted their life in the most beautiful places in Georgia.
The entrance to the museum is not free. To visit the museum you have to pay a symbolic fee of 2 GEL (about 46 rubles) on weekdays from 11:00 to 17:00. There are wonderful guides at the museum, who will be glad to tell you about the exhibits and share the legends of these places. All the exhibits are signed in Russian and Georgian. This is a wonderful place for a family vacation. Adults can learn more about the history of the country and the origins of its traditions and mentality, and young visitors will learn many exciting legends of this sunny country with passion.
