It contains archaeological and ethnographic materials and a rich collection of ancient Georgian manuscripts, the most important of which is the oldest of the four dated Gospels (897) - the "Gospel of Adishi" as well as the "Jerusalem Law" (10th century), the "Mestia Quadrach Book" (1033), other ancient Gospel editions, several important monuments of Georgian embossed and pictorial art. The chronology of the exhibits begins with the III millennium B.C. The bronze Syrian censers of the VI century, reliquaries of the X-XI centuries) and the oldest manuscripts made on parchment occupy a special place in the exposition.
It also contains a 12th century Sassanian silver jug, a Byzantine embroidered icon, a 13th century Venetian so-called decorative cross and other important exhibits; collections of Christian culture preserved in the Svaneti; numerous samples of Georgian, Byzantine and European art of the Middle Ages.
Of note is a cross created in Venice for installation in front of the altar (XII - the end of XIV century), which is known as the cross "latai", i.e. decorated with precious stones.
Of the numismatic collections, the coin of Alexander the Great attracts particular attention. This is one of 337 coins minted on behalf of Alexander the Great and found on the territory of Georgia. Of particular importance is the icon of Silikhan, in which is embedded part of the cross of Calvary and which was preserved for centuries in the territory of Zemo (Upper) Svaneti, in the village of Adishi (hence the name of the Gospel). "The Gospel of Adishi" is well known and intensively studied both in Georgia and abroad (in America, Belgium, Germany, etc.).
