The museum is located in the poet's native house. The main part of the museum fund consists of memorial items of Giorgi Leonidze and his family: ethnographic materials, samples of applied arts and painting, documents.
Poet and public figure Giorgi Leonidze was born on December 27th 1899 in the village of Patardzeuli. His father, Niko Leonidze, was also a well-known public figure, teacher and friend of Vazha-Pshavel.
Giorgi Leonidze's first poem "Mtskheta" was published when he was still a teenager (1911, newspaper "Sinatle"). A year later he dedicated a poem to Vazha-Pshavel, who responded to the poet with a poem (1912, published in the newspaper "Ganatleba"). In 1922-1923 he edited the weekly literary newspaper "Bakhtrioni", the literary movement "Blue Horns".
George Leonidze's book "The Tree of Desire" was especially popular, and in 1976 the film of the same title (directed by Tengiz Abuladze) won more than one international award.
Giorgi Leonidze was a researcher and publisher of Georgian literature, especially ancient Georgian literature. In the 1930s he initiated the establishment of the Museum of Writers on Mtatsminda, which was later transformed into the State Literary Museum of Georgia (nowadays the museum is named after Giorgi Leonidze).
He founded the Ilya Chavchavadze Museum in Saguramo, the Lesya Ukrainka House Museum in Surami, and the almanacs Literary Heritage and Literary Chronicle. In 1951-1953 he headed the Union of Writers of Georgia. Giorgi Leonidze published "On the Wisdom of Lies" by Sulkhan Saba Orbeliani (1928) with corresponding commentaries and studies, "Didmouraviani" by Tbileli (1939) and others.
Leonidze owns studies of "The Knight in Tiger Skin", the works of Vakhtang VI, David Guramishvili, Besiki, Sayat-Nova, Antimoz of Iveria, A. Kazbegi, I. Chavchavadze, A. Tsereteli, Vaja-Pshavel and others.

Я не знакома с произведениями Георгия Леонидзе, так как он писал на грузинском, а в переводе скорее всего немного теряется смысл. Но я, наткнувшись на эту статью, более подробно почитала о Георгие Леонидзе и поняла, что это был интересный человек, который внес огромный вклад в развитие культуры в Грузии.
