Uchi Dzhaparidze is the most famous Georgian artist. The artist's house-museum is her studio filled with magnificent creations of Uchi Dzhaparidze. Portraits, landscapes, other interesting compositions - all this you can see in this museum, as well as learn more about the artist's work.
The museum was founded on the basis of the apartment-workshop of the Georgian painter, People's Artist of Georgia, winner of the Shota Rustaveli Prize Uchi (Ilya) Japaridze (1906-1988). He was educated in the Art Studio of Mose Toidze and in the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. His teachers were David Kakabadze, Lado Gudiashvili, Joseph Charleman, and Ezhen Lanceret. In 1942-48 he was the rector of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.
Creativity Uchi Dzhaparidze both in terms of genre (portrait, book painting, wall monumental painting), and use of technical means (watercolor, gouache, pastel, tempera and oil paints) is marked by versatility. Ucha Dzhaparidze's portraits of David Agmashenebeli (the Builder), Queen Tamara, Shota Rustaveli, Besiki, David Guramishvili, Akaki Tsereteli, Ilya Chavchavadze, Vazha-Pshavel, Galaktion Tabidze, Joseph Noneshvili, Zakharia Paliashvili and others make a special impression. The museum holds paintings, graphic works of Uchi Dzhaparidze, photos, documents, memorial items of the artist, a total of 1456 exhibits.
