Anaklia —It is a small town in Western Georgia, on the shores of Inguri and the Black Sea, near the border with Abkhazia. The history of the settlement begins in the 15th century, when a fortified port appeared in this place as part of the Mingrel Principality.
At the beginning of the 18th century, it was handed over to the Turks, the Ottoman Empire and became a center for the sale of Georgians into slavery. In 1770, the Georgian-Russian army captured the port, and subsequently it was transferred to the Imeretian Kingdom.
Places of interest
On the bank of the Inguri River, the remains of the Jiha fortress (15th century) have been preserved — part of the fortress walls and watchtowers. In memory of the losses of the Georgian people, a Memorial to the victims of the genocide was erected in 2012, the author of which was Husen Kuchesokov, a sculptor from Kabardino-Balkaria. A wooden bridge has been built across Inguri, its length is 540 meters. This is the longest pedestrian bridge in Europe, which connects Anaklia and the village of Ganmukhuri. Cars do not drive on it, only bicycles and segways are allowed from vehicles.
Colchis State Reserve (Kolkheti). In this unique place you can meet animals and rare plants that are marked on the pages of the Red Book of Georgia. Among them: sea lily, marsh turtles, raisins, etc. Kayaking trips on Lake Paliastomi are organized in the reserve. Their cost is from 10 lari (250 rubles) per person. There are restaurants, cheap hotels, campsites (10-50 lari = 250-1250 rubles). You can rent a tent, the cost is from 10 lari (≈250 rubles).

"Golden Fleece" is a five-star hotel located 100 meters from the seashore. Distance from Anaklia to: - Tbilisi — 340 km.; - Batumi — 147 km.; - Kutaisi — 100 km. Recommended airports are Batumi and Kutaisi. Transfer from Batumi costs $ 90-100 (6700-7500 rubles), from Kutaisi — $ 70-80 (5200-6000 rubles). You can go by bus: from Kutaisi bus station to Zugdidi — $ 4, the fare from Zugdidi to Anaklia — $ 1.
