History.
Kote Abkhazi Street appeared in the Middle Ages and was called the middle market. The street got this name because it was located between two territories - the Upper District and the Lower District. Officially there was no market here, but despite this, the market was very crowded and became a central place for trade, albeit unofficial.
At the end of the 19th century, when compiling a list of streets in Tbilisi, the market was recorded as Armenian Street and Pavel Tsitsianov. In different plans, it was called differently.
The reconstruction of the street took place many times, thanks to which it became the largest transport highway. At the moment, it connects the city center and its southeastern part.
