What to see in Georgia - a two-day route to Lake Ujiro in the summer.
The average difficulty of the route to Lake Yujiro is compensated by a panorama of extraordinary beauty, which tourists will discover by climbing to an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level.
Ujiro, translated from Georgian, means "bottomless". This lake is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia. It is located between two peaks: Katitsvera and Dolomisi. It should be noted that in the region Racha-Lechkhumi there are several lakes of the same name. The lake is located on a plateau, at an altitude of about 3000 m above sea level, is fed by the meltwater of a local glacier and is of volcanic origin.
Clean high–altitude air and meadows unique in beauty - all this you will discover by visiting this natural attraction of Georgia. The best time to visit Lake Ujiro is summer, but even in summer, the water temperature in it does not rise above 10 degrees.
Note: from November to May, the lake is in a frozen state.
Track route to Lakes of Yujiro
We will need a couple of days, the route itself starts from the village of Glola, which is located near the resort place of Shovi. On the first day, we are waiting for a fairly steep uphill climb, after which we will find ourselves in a valley and follow the river. Moving deeper into the valley and reaching the pass between the Katsitsvera and Dolomisi mountains, we will have to overcome a rather steep climb carefully, without haste.
After passing a difficult section of the climb, you can relax and enjoy the local beauties of nature – Lake Ujiro will be no more than 8 kilometers away. Its waters reflect the sky of the Caucasus and the mountains. Unforgettable impressions of visiting Lake Ujiro will stay with you for the rest of your life.
When planning to set up a tent, pay attention to the southern hill. If the weather turns bad and it rains, the tent site will remain relatively dry on this hill. The total distance of the track route is about 20 km. Experts assign it an average difficulty due to the steep ascents and an altitude of 3000 m above sea level, on which Lake Ujiro is located.
When planning the passage of this two-day route for the first time, it is necessary to know about the individual reaction of your body to heights and discharged air.
