Comfortable Kokotauri glampings, Beshumi log cabins, an extreme cable car to Khulo - every tourist will find something to see in Georgia.
On a trip to Adjara⬇️
In search of the most beautiful places in Georgia, we found ourselves in Adjara. Today we will talk about the peculiarities of local resort areas.
But first of all, let's answer the question: what is glamping? This is the newest type of ecotourism, where a traveler can relax in the bosom of nature with all the amenities, a more expensive and comfortable version of a tent camp.
Beshumi Log cabins
Beshumi–a tourist town, as if painted by a surrealist artist on a beautiful canvas of Georgian pristine nature, and revived by his will... A lot of strange little houses located quite close to each other, as if scattered along the slope of the Arsian ridge. The artist who painted this picture was sure that a residential house could be built from anything. Thus, this confidence has settled in people – local dwellings are very colorful.
The houses in Beshumi are built of rough planks, various kinds of logs, iron sheets and other materials. However, it is not necessary to perceive local buildings as anything close in comfort to a tent or a hut. Inside they are quite comfortable. As evidenced by the popularity of Beshumi among vacationers, especially in the summer. The Beshumi mini-society is very different. Here you can meet families with children, tourists and travelers from different countries.
From the benefits of civilization in Beshumi, you can find shops and cafes with prices below average. There is also Internet, however, with hourly payment.
Of the disadvantages of local recreation, tourists note noise – the houses in Beshumi are located close to each other, and there is practically no noise insulation in these strange buildings. The second disadvantage that you need to be prepared for is the condition of the road.
Kokotauri
Although this village was not mentioned in the title, but it is worth telling about it. And here's why: in the vicinity of this village there is an opportunity to relax in glamping. Glamping in Kokotauri looks like spherical tents.
There is Internet, shower, toilet, refrigerator, kitchen and even a projector. The cost of a day's rest in glamping varies between 30 – 40 dollars.
Historical background
Despite the fact that this type of ecotourism appeared in the early 2000s in Britain, the concept of glamping was taken by the British from history. Luxury tents were used in Scotland in the 16th century when visiting the nature of notable people.
Khulo – for fans of extreme sports
There is a cable car in Khulo. We will not advise you to ride it – here let everyone decide for himself. The length of the cable car in Khulo is about 2 km, the height is about 300 meters. The road itself has been operating for more than 30 years, and the locals do not consider this method of transportation extreme: the cabin is designed for 10 people, but sometimes more than 10 passengers enter it.
The local church, the ethnographic museum in Khulo, which contains some of the sights of Georgia and a modest art gallery, will be of interest to those who like a relaxing holiday.
Goderdzi
Adjara Goderdzi Ski Resort is one of the newest in Georgia. In some publications, it is noted as "the snowiest". However, locals tend to exaggerate. On the other hand, it is impossible not to note the obvious advantages of Goderdzi – you can get from Batumi to Goderdzi in just a couple of hours. However, it is also worth considering seasonality here and not to forget about the reputation of the "snowiest ski resort" – the road leading to Goderdzi can also be snowy.
There is a wide choice of places to stay in Goderzi. You can choose what you can afford.
- Cottages – 2 and 4-bed – from $ 35 per day. Meals are paid separately.
- There is a village of Danisparauli not far from the resort. A guesthouse with affordable prices, including meals – from $ 15 per day, plus breakfast and dinner.
- There is an old hotel "Meteo" and a new one – "Goderdzi" – it is unknown whether it is completed or not.
You can get to Goderdzi by minibus or by private transport.
