The history of the creation of the pantomime theater in Tbilisi.
In 1961, Amiran Shalikashvili, a student of the Tbilisi Theater Institute, gathered a group of classmates around him, founded a small pantomime studio and began to stage small short stories-miniatures. He himself worked in a musical comedy theater, and invested all the money he earned in creating a theater.
May 13, 1965 is considered the birthday of the professional pantomime genre in Georgia. Since 1965, the studio began to transform into a theater, which was very popular with the Georgian audience.
In 2015, the International Pantomime Festival named after Amiran Shalikashvili was founded in Georgia.
We visited the play "Krimanchuli" in this theater. The performance featured short stories in the comedy genre. We really liked it. It was our first trip to the pantomime theater in our life. Our son Fedya, who is 11 years old, was very interested in following what was happening on stage.
