Bridge from Akhalkalaki to Hulgumo "Tumas"
- Description
The Tumas Bridge is an important transport artery in the Akhalkalaki region, Georgia. It connects the village of Khulgumo and nearby settlements with the city of Akhalkalaki. The bridge was built in 2013 on the initiative of a benefactor and native of the village of Khulgumo - Tumas Chivchyan.
The bridge attracts tourists due to its stunning architecture and beautiful views of the Taparvan River gorge. 182 meters long, 2 meters wide and 41 meters high make it a spectacular element of the landscape. The bridge also reduces the distance between the village and the city by almost 3 km.
Despite its functionality, the Tumas Bridge also becomes a place of entertainment for locals and tourists. During the day it serves as an important transport route for the local population, and in the evening hours it becomes a popular place for walking, relaxing and observing the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Visitors should be careful after sunset, however, as the bridge is not lit and can be difficult to navigate in the dark. In any case, it remains an important place to visit in Javakheti, both for its functionality and importance to the local community, and for its architectural splendor and beautiful views.
