XX საუკუნის ბოლოს დაარსებული დმანისში ისტორიულ-არქიტექტურული ორიენტაციის მუზეუმ-ნაკრძალი პირველი მუზეუმ-ძეგლია საქართველოში, რომელიც არქეოლოგიური გათხრების ადგილზე ჩამოყალიბდა.
კვლევით მუშაობაში მონაწილეობას იღებდნენ არა მარტო ქართველი, არამედ უცხოელი ისტორიკოსები და ამჟამად სამეცნიერო საქმიანობას აფინანსებენ სახელმწიფო ფონდი და უცხოური ორგანიზაციები. მუზეუმის სტუმრებს შეუძლიათ იხილონ შუა საუკუნეების დასახლება შემონახული უძველესი ციხე-სიმაგრით.
გამოფენის ცენტრალური ელემენტია უძველესი ჰომინიდების ნაშთები, რომლებიც ჩამოვიდნენ აფრიკიდან. ასევე განსაკუთრებული ყურადღება უნდა მიექცეს გეოლოგიურ ფენას, რომელიც 1,7 მილიონ წელზე მეტი ხნისაა. კოლექციაში დაცულია ევროპელების ნიმუშები, მატერიალური კულტურის ნიმუშები, ქვის და ბრინჯაოს ხანის ექსპონატები.

Located just 30 minutes south of Bolnisi, it’s an easy stop if you have a car. The excavation site and small museum are open only during the summer, so it's best to contact the staff beforehand to plan your visit. Scary, aggressive dog!! We arrived in the evening in May, and the gate was open when we entered the area. We approached the monk to ask if we could set up a tent near the monastery, but suddenly his enormous, terrifying, and aggressive dog attacked us. It even went after the monk who tried to control it. We were fortunate to escape without serious bites and quickly ran away. I've hiked in this region for years and have never encountered such a dangerous dog. I strongly recommend avoiding this place for your safety.
