
HeidelbergCement occupies a leading position among global manufacturers of building materials and, after the acquisition of the Italian cement manufacturer Italcementi, has significantly strengthened its position in the market. Now the company is one of the world leaders in the production of non-metallic materials, ranks second in the production of cement and third in the production of ready-mixed concrete. HeidelbergCement has expanded its operations to employ approximately 60,000 employees at more than 3,000 production sites in approximately 60 countries on five continents.
The company's main activities include the production and sale of cement and aggregates, which are key components for the production of concrete. In addition to this, HeidelbergCement also produces ready-mixed concrete and other construction materials in some countries.
The company began operating in Georgia in 2006 and has since strengthened its position as a leader in the local cement market. HeidelbergCement operates three cement plants in Kaspi and Rustavi, a cement mill in Poti, as well as a cement terminal in Supsa, being the only clinker producer in Georgia.
The company's first concrete plant was put into operation in 2009, and the company now operates 14 concrete plants. HeidelbergCement Georgia supplies cement and concrete for many large construction projects in the country.
Since the start of its activities in Georgia, the company has invested more than 200 million euros, mainly in the modernization of existing cement plants and the development of the concrete business. HeidelbergCement Georgia employs more than 1,200 people, which underlines the company's significant contribution to the economy and labor market of Georgia.
