The Ozurgeti Museum of Local Lore, founded in 1936, is the largest research center of the Guria region in Georgia. A special role in its development belongs to the first director Nikolai Samsony, who died in the Civil War.
The most complete collection of exhibits was formed after the Great Patriotic War, when the exhibition fund was replenished with valuable material monuments of art. At the moment, the museum has over 6,000 exhibits demonstrating Georgian history, they date back to the time frame from the 9th millennium BC to the present day.
The museum is open daily for everyone who wants to get acquainted with the Colchian culture, the Middle and late Bronze Age, as well as with unique examples of fine art. While visiting the exhibition, pay attention to archival books, Turkish coins, European and Colchian silver coins and numismatic items.
