  • Description

The Museum of History of Tbilisi State University, named after the Georgian historian Ivane Javakhishvili, is located in the central district on Ilya Chavchavadze Avenue. It includes seven exhibitions of various directions: geography and paleontology, history, including emigration of Georgians, archeology, zoology and mineralogy.

In addition to the permanent collection, which is available daily to museum visitors, temporary exhibitions on the development of culture and art of Georgia are periodically held. While visiting the exhibition halls, special attention should be paid to documentary materials, namely personal manuscripts and rare editions of famous professors L. Chogoshvili and E. Kalandadze, who previously taught at the university.

Also in the museum fund there are collections of unique books, photographs and videos, memorial and antique items.
