The Racha Dukhan is Tbilisi's most authentic dining room, a place where time seems to have stopped.
Racha is a legendary dukhan (tavern) on Lermontov St., known for its simplicity, huge portions and very low prices.
The setting is Spartan: old wooden tables, minimal decor, often all tables are occupied by locals. The main thing is the food: real home–cooked cuisine of the Racha region is served here - lobio in pots, Rachinsky khachapuri with beans, kharcho soup, shkmeruli, etc.
This place got into many guidebooks as the "atmospheric dining room of the USSR".
Tourists appreciate its authenticity and cheapness: “The restaurant had nice, authentic vibes and the prices were very affordable, making it a cozy and budget-friendly spot to enjoy authentic Georgian food.”
Racha Dukhan has already collected more than 540 reviews on TripAdvisor and maintains a strong rating of ~3.9, and is in the top 150 establishments in the city in terms of the number of recommendations.
It is often difficult to get here in the evening – tables are not booked, and visitors stand in line.
Despite the simplicity of the service, the Racha dukhan is a must for those who want to experience the spirit of old Tbilisi and eat their fill for a pittance.
