I wonder what kind of wine to try while in Georgia?
Rustam.
Alicia.
I really love Georgian wine and I know a lot about it!
Let's start with the whites. From semi-sweet vintage I recommend "Alazani Valley". The wine is remarkable because it is made from a single grape variety: rkatsiteli. A fine wine, refined, light, when you drink it, you get the feeling that it is a delicate grape juice.
This wine is very popular with girls, because it causes feelings close to euphoria, some compare these impressions with the aftertaste after a glass of sparkling wine. The color of the wine is amber, the drink is young with an aging of about a year.
The taste is soft fruity, slightly sour. You can serve it with cheese, poultry, any meat on the grill, fire. "Alazani Valley" is a great gift for any celebration.
Another remarkable white wine is Tsinandali. Excellent vintage, made by combining two grape varieties: Rkatsiteli and Mtsvani. The color is very balanced, something like straw. The taste, of course, is for connoisseurs: many may find it too sour.
Indeed, Tsinandali is the most sour wine of all Georgian wines. It goes well with phali (this is such a traditional snack of different types of greens, sometimes with the addition of vegetables or even pomegranate seeds), fish and game. I love this wine, it's cool!
Now the red ones. It is no secret that the Khvanchkara wine is very well known and popular even outside Georgia. A beautiful rather dark ruby color with a berry–raspberry taste and the smell of flowers. You can serve it with poultry, nuts, vegetables and, of course, with cheeses. My personal recommendation: try it with cheeses with noble mold (white or blue), this cheese sets off and unfolds the whole bouquet of wine flavor as much as possible.
Be sure to buy "Mukuzani". The wine is red, rather thick, has woody (oak) notes and a cherry flavor. Vintage dry, medium aging from three years. Tip: look at the label, if you do not find this extract – do not take such a bottle!
The unrestrained "Mukuzani" will be much inferior in taste to the aged. You can serve it with any spicy dishes, fried meat, cheeses.
The last wine I will tell you about is Saperavi. It is made of dry, only it will be lighter: a rich garnet color. According to the technology, the exposure should be at least a year. There are notes of currant and prune in the taste.
This wine can be supplemented with spicy food, salads. Interestingly, it is made all over the country, so being in Georgia, I recommend trying this wine in different regions to enjoy a variety of flavors and flavor touches.
And also be sure to get acquainted with the philosophy of toast! This is a special thing! When a Georgian makes a toast, he weaves in all the wisdom of the moment, the event - the quintessence of his thoughts and experiences at the moment! It's unforgettable!

When in Georgia, be sure to indulge in a glass of traditional amber wine, known as "qvevri wine." Crafted using ancient winemaking methods, this amber elixir boasts a distinct orange hue and complex flavors that reflect the region's cultural heritage. It's a truly unique taste that transports you back in time.
For those seeking a lighter and more refreshing option, try the crisp and fruity Mtsvane or the vibrant and floral Kisi. These white wines exhibit a balance of acidity and delicate aromas, making them perfect companions for sunny afternoons or pairing with local cuisine.
No Georgian wine adventure is complete without savoring the sparkling delight of "chacha," the country's traditional brandy. Made from grapes, this fiery spirit packs a punch and embodies the spirit of Georgia's hospitality and warmth.
In conclusion, visiting Georgia presents a golden opportunity to explore the world of Georgian wines. Whether you're drawn to the bold reds, aromatic whites, or spirited brandies, there's a wine to suit every palate. So raise your glass and embark on an unforgettable journey through Georgia's rich winemaking traditions – a sensory experience like no other.
