What are the prospects for Georgian tourism?
The local entertainment industry has suffered significant losses due to quarantine measures and self-isolation. It was in the year preceding the outbreak of the pandemic that record figures of income ($3 billion) and the number of foreign travelers (9.3 million) were recorded.
For comparison, last year's revenues of the tourist sphere amounted to 427 thousand dollars, and the number of intourists equated to 2 million people.
The country's authorities are aiming to increase the foreign tourist flow six times by 2025, and in another five years the number of guests may increase to 14,000,000 people.
According to an expert in the tourism sector, such figures are very real, because the potential of the state has not disappeared during the pandemic. However, the implementation of the authorities' plans depends entirely on the epidemiological climate in Georgia, Niko Kvaratskhelia added.
