According to legend, the emergence of the city is connected with the hot sulfur waters available on its territory. This circumstance was reflected in the name of the city (tfili - warm). The first settlement in Tbilisi appeared in the IV century, in the middle of the V century, the king of Kartli Vakhtang Gorgasali began to build a city here, and his heir Dachi declared Tbilisi the capital of Kartli. Tbilisi is the natural center of the Caucasus region. Its strategic location has attracted great empires since ancient times and the city has often been subjected to the political, economic and cultural influence of other countries. In the VIII-XII centuries, Tbilisi was ruled by Muslims, an Arab emir ruled here. In the XVI-XVIII centuries it was under the rule of the Persians and Ottomans, and in the XIX-XX centuries - the Russians.

In 1918-1921, Tbilisi was the capital of the Georgian Democratic Republic, and since 1991 - the independent state of Georgia.

теперь я поняла, почему моя бабушка часто говорила "Тифилис" Я просто очень люблю историю древнюю. И знаю многое о Старом Тибилисе, например, что в районе Старого Тбилиси также находятся множество древних церквей и соборов, включая Метехи церковь и Сионский собор которые я также хотела бы посетить. Название "Тбилиси" происходит от грузинского слова "tbili", что означает "горячий". Это связано с горячими источниками, которые находятся в этой местности. А ещё, что Тбилиси может похвастаться одной из самых старых метрополитенов в СНГ. Его первая линия была открыта в 1966 году.
