The city of Akhaltsikhe is one of the oldest Georgian cities. The city has been mentioned since the twelfth century. At one time, Akhaltsikhe was the most important center in Georgia and was of great strategic importance. The city has been preserved quite well, special attention should be paid to the fortress of Sergi Dzhakeli, the church of St. Marina, the palace of the Akhaltsikhe Pasha. Currently, there is a museum of local lore in the city.

The city is located 230 km fromTbilisi, in the Akhaltsikhe pit, on both banks of the Potshovi River. This city has been mentioned in historical monuments since the XII century . In the XII-XVI centuries. it becomes the political center of Samtskhe-Saatabago.
In 1629-1828, Akhaltsikhe was the capital of the Akhaltsikhe Pashalyk, part of the Ottoman Empire, and the main center of trade in Caucasian captives and slaves. The historical part of Akhaltsikhe is located on the left bank of the Potshovistskali River, on a rocky mountain. It is called "Rabati" - this was the name in the Middle Ages of the area in the city where merchants and artisans lived.
On the territory of Rabati there is the fortress of Sergi Dzhakeli, the church of St. Marina, the palace of the Akhaltsikhe Pasha, the Ottoman mosque (1752), a caravanserai, a bathhouse. Currently, there is a museum of local lore functioning here.

нается в статье.Весь город практически исторический памятник,я думаю интересно будет посмотреть крепость Серги Джакели,церковь Св.
Марины,дворец ахалциского паши,османскую мечеть.Перечислять долго лучше увидеть своими глазами.Этот город прекрасно сохранился и заслуживает внимания.
